| Former Marine Combat Correspondent and Sergeant of Marines who saw action in the Dominican Republic in 1965. Retired Air Force Public Affairs Officer with experience in Recruitment Advertising and International Affairs. While serving in Turkey he handled international media for a major aircraft crash and conducted internal information activities when the national government was overthrown by the Military. He was awarded the Department of Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Following retirement he created the Development Office of the Ephrata Community Hospital Foundation, Ephrata, PA and brought the Public Relations function from an agency to an in-house operation. He also established the Office of Volunteer Employment. Glenn was Owner, Publisher and Editor of the Parkesburg Post, Parkesburg, PA, taking a near-bankrupt community newspaper and making it profitable in less than two years. ![]() Acting Director of University Relations for Penn State-Harrisburg he also held the title of Director of Community Relations. Executive Director of the Lancaster County Historical Society he moved a venerable community organization into the 20th Century just in time to enter the 21st. The Society was the first in the state to have its own web site, was among the first to put finding aids on line, developed new income streams which enabled the staff to grow from two to seven within four years. Now retired, he lives in a 35-foot Winnebago motor home, wherever he wants to be and is a happy homeless veteran. Previously he lived on the Delaware coast where he was in training as a Certified Beach Bum, and now is a member of the National Park Service's Master Ranger Corps, doing cultural interpretation for many national parks and training Park Service Rangers as a coach in the Eppley Institute of Indiana University.
He has been named a Certified Interpretive Guide by the National
Association for Interpretation. For the Summer of 2008, Glenn is
working as a Park Ranger at Appomattox Courthouse NHP, VA.He travels for research projects and is working on a biography of a Civil War Union Naval officer who he portrays at living history events and in speaking engagements nationwide. For five years his "On Second Thought" column appeared weekly in his hometown newspaper, the Lititz Record-Express. He is Senior Editor and Webmaster for the Rebecca Pratt Literary Group. Glenn is a Past Commander of the Department of Pennsylvania, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and remains active in that group. He is a member of the American Legion, VFW, Marine Corps League, Company of Military Historians and the Scottish-American Military Society. He is a Master Mason and charter member of the Pennsylvania Lodge of Research. |
